Your first steps in Gridwork — create an account, add your first company, and invite your team

The first time you sign in, Gridwork walks you through creating your first account. An account is the top-level container for everything you manage — companies, locations, employees, services, and marketing.

Step 1: Create your first account

After verifying your email and signing in, you'll land on a page asking for an account name. Pick something that describes the business or group you're managing, like "Acme Franchises" or "Mediterranean Restaurants GmbH." You can rename the account later in Settings.

Submitting the form makes you the account owner with full permissions. You can add and remove members at any time.

Step 2: Add your first company

From the dashboard, open the Companies section and click Add company. A company represents one of your franchise brands, portfolio entries, or business units. You can add as many as you need.

When creating a company you'll set basic details — name, legal information (useful for invoicing), and optionally an initial location. The location step is optional — you can always add locations later from the company's detail page.

Step 3: Invite your team

Open Settings → Members to invite colleagues by email. Each invited member can be given a role that determines what they can see and change. For example, an account admin can manage billing and members, while a company user can only see the companies they've been assigned to.

Invites expire after a few days. You can resend or revoke them from the same screen.

What's next

Once your account has at least one company, you can start adding:

  • Locations — physical or logical places under a company.
  • Employees — staff associated with a location.
  • Services — offerings you want to list and reference across companies.
  • Marketing posts — content tied to companies for promotion.

If you need help with any of these, each section has its own help article linked from its page header.
